Every autumn people across America and Canada come together and feast in the name of Thanksgiving.
With food taking centre stage during this celebration, we thought it would be fun to come up with an authentic Indian twist on the Thanksgiving turkey.
To make a Rasoi spiced turkey we recommend that you need:
- 1 turkey (a good start)
- 1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
- 2 tsp paprika
- 3 tsp finely chopped ginger
- 8 oz butter
- 5 tsp garam masala
Melt the butter; add the garlic, paprika, garam masala, ginger, salt and pepper
Carefully spread ghee between the skin of the turkey and the breast, do the same with the spice mixture
Roast the turkey for 1 hour at around 205C, then baste every 20 minutes for a further hour or until skin has nicely browned and turkey is cooked throughout at around 175C
You can also try adding spices like coriander, cumin and chili to the mixture if you want. The perfect side dish to this turkey could be spiced roast potatoes and/or spiced vegetables such as carrots, broccoli and cauliflower.
